Love of Horses
Nihung Singhs keep a lot of love for horses. 6ve Paatshah Sri Guru Hargobind Sahib Ji Maharaj lovingly referred to their horses as Jaan-Bhai (Beloved/Life-Brother).
Bhai Nand Lal Ji’s Tankhah Namah contains the following bachans:
Kalgidhar Maharaj Ji has additional Bachans. The person who is worthy of horse seva must have a lot of Bhagti or been Blessed by Vaheguru otherwise.
Nihung Singhs carry out the seva of horses with a lot of affection and love for Guru Sahib in mind. A lot of Missions(morchay) are begun by feeding horses chholay (grams), If the horse does a hard-exhale (funkaar), Nihung Singhs see it as being a good sign. In Chakravarti Dals (nomadic forces), Singhs conduct horseshoe fitting (khakharna), massage and other sevas with great devotion. When a horse leaves its body, Nihung Singhs grieve with the same pain as if a Singh had ascended. There were instances when a horse would leave its body during the time of Jathedar Baba Bishan Singh Ji (Tarna Dal’s 12th Jaanasheen). Baba Ji would have a Nishaan Sahib raised in the horse’s memory.
