Dheedh (sung by Jatha Bhai Mehal Singh Ji Chandigarh)

This poem is written to tell the story of the Sikh's Yearning to have the Darshan [Sight] of Dhan Dhan Guru Gobind Singh Ji. Bhai Gurjant Singh Ji have alluded to Vairaag-mayi Shabads revealed to us in Gurbani. Let us grow our love through these mediums!

ਪਿਰ ਜਿਉਂ ਮਿਲੇ ਕਾਮਣ ਨੂੰ
ਤਾਂ ਸਾਵਣ ਵਿਚ ਸਰਸ ਰਹੇ
Pir Jiou[n] Milae KaamaN noo[n] Thaa[n] SaavaN Vich Saras Rahae
When the bride meets her Beloved then
[she feels relieved just] like rain in the hot and dry summer months...

ਉਡੀਕਾਂ ਹੋ ਗੇਈਆਂ ਲੰਮੀਆ
Eih Thaa[n]ghaa[n] Chir Dheeaa[n] Barreeaa Udeekaa[n] Ho Gae-eeaa[n] La[n]meeaa[n]
This piercing-feeling has been stretching for such a long time,
This time spent waiting seems like forever...

ਨਾ ਸਾਥੋਂ ਰਹਿੰਦੀਆਂ ਥੰਮੀਆ
Jo Tharbaa[n] Chi-th Vi-ch Chhirreeaa[n] naa Saathho[n] Rahi[n]dheeaa[n] Thha[n]meeaa[n]
The mental efforts towards [seeing You],
They do not remain still and permanent.

ਅਜੇ ਨਾ ਬਖਸ਼ ਦਰਸ਼ ਰਹੇ
Jee Mu-dhthaa[n] Beeth Chu-keeaa[n] nae Ajae naa Bakhsh Dharas Rahae
We’ve happily heard about the others who’ve been successful
yet we have not been blessed with that same sight

ਸਮੇਂ ਦਾ ਇੰਤਜ਼ਾਰ ਬੜਾ
Kadho[n] Gal LaavNaa Piaarae Samae[n] Dhaa I[n]thzaar Barraa
Oh Beloved, when will You hold me in Your Embrace,
I have been waiting for a long time.

We are the dust of the feet of those who are blessed with your sight and touch,
all day and night

ਜਲਦ ਆ ਠੰਡ ਪਾ ਦੇਵੋ
Thrisnaa Agan Pa-aee Saarrae Jaladh Aa Tta[n]d Paa Dhaevo
The fire of desires is burning, please come extinguish [the fire] through Your Coolness

ਜੋ ਲੁਟਦੇ ਪੰਜ ਤਸਕਾਰ ਨੇ
ਇਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਦੰਡ ਆ ਦੇਵੋ
Jo Lut-dhae Pa[n]j Thaskar nae Inhaa[n] noo[n] Dha[n]d Aa Dhaevo
Come and punish the 5 thieves who are stealing from us.

ਉਹ ਅਰਸ਼ੋ ਡਿੱਗ ਫਰਸ਼ ਰਹੇ
Jinhaa[n] noo[n] Kh-ich Vishiaa[n] Dhee Ouh Arasho[n] Di-g Pharash Rahae
Whoever are pulled by the temporary pleasures,
they fall from the heavens to the ground

ਜਿਉਂ ਵਿਛੜੇ ਮੀਨ ਪਾਣੀ ਤੋਂ
Vichhorraa Tharraph Ji[n]dhrree La-aee Jiou[n] Vichh-arrae Meen PaaNee Tho[n]
The Suffering of Separation the soul has to face
Is like a fish separated from water.

Oh Master, we have a desire to realize the Ways of Love

Oh Beloved, Your Naam is decorating us!
