ਭੁਜੰਗ ਪ੍ਰਯਾਤ ਛੰਦ ॥

Name of Chhand
ਨਮੋ ਸਰਬ ਮਾਨੇ ॥ ਸਮਸਤੀ ਨਿਧਾਨੇ ॥
Namo Sarab Maanae; Samasthee Nidhhaanae
Namaskaar to the [One] honoured throughout all places
[The One] who is the Giver of all the wealth in everyone’s treasuries
ਨਮੋ ਦੇਵ ਦੇਵੇ¹ ॥ ਅਭੇਖੀ ਅਭੇਵੇ ॥੪੪॥
Namo Dhaev Dhaev; Abhaekhee Abhaevae
Namaskaar to the Prakaash[Radiance] of prakaash[radiance];
Free from dress/garb/attire/look, free from secrets/mystery/difference
¹The one giving radiance to the devte
ਨਮੋ ਕਾਲ ਕਾਲੇ² ॥ ਨਮੋ ਸਰਬ ਪਾਲੇ ॥
Namo Kaal Kaalae; Namo Sarab Paalae
Namaskaar to the Mahakaal;
Namaskaar to [the One] who is the Nurturer/Carer to everyone
² The Main Cause of All
ਨਮੋ ਸਰਬ ਗਉਣੇ ॥ ਨਮੋ ਸਰਬ ਭਉਣੇ ॥੪੫॥
Namo Sarab GouNae; Namo Sarab BhouNae
Namaskaar to [the One] who pervades everywhere
Namaskaar to [the One] who is at every place
ਅਨੰਗੀ ਅਨਾਥੇ ॥ ਨ੍ਰਿਸੰਗੀ ਪ੍ਰਮਾਥੇ¹ ॥
Ana[n]gee Anaathhae; Nrisa[n]gee Pramaathhae
Without any limbs & free from having a master;
Without any companion and [the One] who churns in a good way [referring to Samundar-Manthan: the Churning of the Ocean)
ਨਮੋ ਭਾਨ ਭਾਨੇ² ॥ ਨਮੋ ਮਾਨ ਮਾਨੇ ॥੪੬॥
Namo Bhaan Bhaanae; Namo Maan Maanae
Namaskaar to the Sun of Suns;
Namaskaar to [the one] worth Honour among the Honoured
² The Radiance of Radiance
ਨਮੋ ਚੰਦ੍ਰ³ ਚੰਦ੍ਰੇ ॥ ਨਮੋ ਭਾਨ ਭਾਨੇ⁴ ॥
Namo Cha[n]dhr Cha[n]dhrae; Namo Bhaan Bhaanae
Namaskaar to the Holder of Radiance (Even greater than the moon),
Namaskaar to Oh Sun of the Sun

Namo Geeth Geethae Namo Thaan Thaanae
Namaskaar to the reason why songs are sung, in essence: the Song within songs;
Namaskaar to the Power of Powers

ਨਮੋ ਨ੍ਰਿਤ ਨ੍ਰਿਤੇ¹ ਨਮੋ ਨਾਦ ਨਾਦੇ ॥
Namo Nrith Nrithae Namo Naadh Naadhae
Namaskaar to the Bliss of Bliss;
Namaskaar to the Form of Shabad within Shabads
¹ The One who churns Sansaar
ਨਮੋ ਪਾਨ ਪਾਨੇ² ਨਮੋ ਬਾਦ ਬਾਦੇ ॥੪੮॥
Namo Paan Paanae Namo Baadhae
Namaskaar to the Strong-Hand of Strong-Hands (Strongest);
Namaskaar to the Form of Tune within Instruments
² One with Great Strength
ਅਨੰਗੀ ਅਨਾਮੇ ਸਮਸਤੀ ਸਰੂਪੇ ॥
Ana[n]gee Anaamae Samasthee Saroopae
Free from having limbs, free from having a [descriptive] name;
Everything is [Vaheguru’s] Saroop
ਪ੍ਰਭੰਗੀ ਪ੍ਰਮਾਥੇ³ ਸਮਸਤੀ ਬਿਭੂਤੇ⁴ ॥੪੯॥
Prabha[n]gee Pramaathhae Samasthee Bibhoothae
The Destroyer and Churner, The Form of Everyone’s Manifestation
³ The Reason of Existence
⁴ in essence: cannot be churned
ਕਲੰਕੰ ਬਿਨਾ ਨੇਕਲੰਕੀ ਸਰੂਪੇ ॥
Kala[n]ka[ng] Binaa Naekala[n]kee Saroopae
Without any blemishes/notoriety, [You] (are) the Form of Spotlessness
ਨਮੋ ਰਾਜ ਰਾਜੇਸ੍ਵਰੰ ਪਰਮ ਰੂਪੇ ॥੫੦॥
Namo Raaj Raajaeswara[ng] Param Roopae
Namaskaar to the Master of the Kings – in the Form of their radiance/glory – who is the Complete Form
ਨਮੋ ਜੋਗ¹ ਜੋਗੇਸ੍ਵਰੰ ਪਰਮ ਸਿੱਧੇ ॥
Namo Jog Jogaeswara[ng] Param Sidhhae
Namaskaar to the Highest State (Form) of the Masters of Yoga who is a Complete Sidhh, meaning an Elder to even the [masters of yoga]
¹Jog = The Concentration of the Mind
ਨਮੋ ਰਾਜ ਰਾਜੇਸ੍ਵਰੰ ਪਰਮ ਬ੍ਰਿੱਧੇ ॥੫੧॥
Namo Raaj Raajaeswara[ng] Param Bridhhae
Namaskaar to the King of Kings who is the Ultimate Greatest
ਨਮੋ ਸਸਤ੍ਰ¹ ਪਾਣੇ ॥² ਨਮੋ ਅਸਤ੍ਰ ਮਾਣੇ ॥³
Namo Sasthr PaaNae; Namo Asthr MaaNae
Namaskaar to the Doer of Destruction;
Namaskaar to [the One] with the Arrow (Wisdom)
¹Sas = to cut, from whose hand has an object that can cut
² PaaNae = hand (wearer/adorner)

ਨਮੋ ਪਰਮ ਗਯਾਤਾ ॥ ਨਮੋ ਲੋਕ ਮਾਤਾ⁴ ॥੫੨॥
Namo Param Gyaathaa; Namo Lok Maathaa
Namaskaar to [the One] that has complete knowledge;
Namaskaar to the Mother of the World
⁴ Mata means the one who gives Honour, So that One does not see Eeshwar as a man, so this also means free from male organs; Bhagats love Paramaatmaa in many ways such as Master, Father, Mother, Husband, This is the perspective of the Bhagats love, know Paramaatma to be free from genitalia
ਅਭੇਖੀ ਅਭਰਮੀ⁵ ਅਭੋਗੀ ਅਭੁਗਤੇ ॥
Abhaekhee Abharmee Abhogee Abhugathae
Free from attire/garb/uniform, free from doubt;
Who does not enjoy/consume nor can be enjoyed/consumed
⁵can infer: Wisdom-holder
ਨਮੋ ਜੋਗ ਜੋਗੇਸ੍ਵਰੰ ਪਰਮ ਜੁਗਤੇ⁶ ॥੫੩॥
Namo Jog Jogaeswar[ng] Param Jugathae
Namaskaar to the Form of the Master of those who have reached the Ultimate Yogic State, They Take on this Complete Union
⁶ meaning; Namaskaar to the Parameswar of the Yogis who are fully connected
ਨਮੋ ਨਿੱਤ ਨਾਰਾਇਣੇ¹ ਕ੍ਰੂਰ ਕਰਮੇ² ॥
Namo Nith NaaraaeiNae Kroor Karamae
Namaskaar to the [One] who always lives, who is the Nurturer and Destroyer
¹Naaraayan = Vishnu/Sustaining Power
² Kroor Karamae = the giver of suffering; who takes away [existence]
ਨਮੋ ਪ੍ਰੇਤ³ ਅਪ੍ਰੇਤ⁴ ਦੇਵੇ ਸੁਧਰਮੇ⁵ ॥੫੪॥
Namo Praeth Apraeth Dhaevae Sudhharamae
Namaskaar to that which has gone – that which has not gone – Radiance – Form – and [specifically] Form of the Highest Dharam

Namaskaar to the Saroop [Great Form] of Anand [Bliss]
ਨਮੋ ਸਾਹ ਸਾਹੰ ਨਮੋ ਭੂਪ ਭੂਪੇ ॥੫੫॥
Namo Saah Saah[ng] Namo Bhoop Bhoopae
Namaskaar to the Paatshah of paatshahs!
Namaskaar to the King of kings
ਨਮੋ ਦਾਨ ਦਾਨੇ ਨਮੋ ਮਾਨ ਮਾਨੇ¹ ॥
Namo Dhaan Dhaan Namo Maan Maanae
Namaskaar to the [One] who gives donations,
Namaskaar to the Greatest of the great
¹Honour of the Honoured
ਨਮੋ ਰੋਗ ਰੋਗੇ² ਨਮਸਤੰ ਇਸਨਾਨੰ ॥੫੬॥
Namo Rog Rogae Namasth[ng] Eisnaan[ng]
Namaskaar to the Pain to pains;
Namaskaar to You, Oh Pure Saroop
² This is said in a loving way, Kabeer Ji refers to Giaan as a medicine: Hamah[u] Ju Boojhaa Boojhnaa Pooree Paree Balaaei (Ang 1374); this refers to the obstacles that come in the way of the spiritual seeker and how they get removed
ਨਮੋ ਮੰਤ੍ਰ ਮੰਤ੍ਰੰ³ ਨਮੋ ਜੰਤ੍ਰ ਜੰਤ੍ਰੰ⁴ ॥
Namo Ma[n]thr Ma[n]thr[ng] Namo Ja[n]thr Ja[n]thr[ng]
Namaskaar to the Highest Mantra among Mantras;
Namaskaar to the Hghest Jantra among Jantras
³ Mantra = that which is repeated in order to get a task done, so the One who completes our tasks is You as well
⁴ Jantra = Yantra = A type of drawing/map written on a piece of paper to get a task done
ਨਮੋ ਇਸਟ⁵ ਇਸਟੇ ਨਮੋ ਤੰਤ੍ਰ ਤੰਤ੍ਰੰ⁶ ॥੫੭॥
Namo Eist Eistae Namo Tha[n]thr Tha[n]thr[ng]
Namaskaar to the Worship Worthy and the [One] worshipper;
Namaskaar to the Tantra of the Tantras
⁵ Isht-Devta who is worshipped and mantra read [with hopes]; Isht = the Worshipped; This means Beloved but within 56 Saloks, it has been referred to [specifically that which we can put] disciplinary efforts towards in order to help manifest tasks [we want to get done]
⁶ Tantra = Jhaarhae; actually Tantra vidhya includes Jhaarae, Talismans & Jap, etc. [Daas could not find a good definition of Jhaarae; closest was-alleviation but even this does not seem correct)
ਸਦਾ ਸੱਚਦਾਨੰਦ ਸਰਬੰ ਪ੍ਰਣਾਸੀ ॥
Sadhaa Sachdhaana[n]dh Sarab[ng] PraNaasee
That who is Always Sat(Truth)-Chit(Consciousness)-Anand(Bliss),
who is the Destroyer of All
ਅਨੂਪੇ ਅਰੂਪੇ ਸਮਸਤੁਲਿ ਨਿਵਾਸੀ ॥੫੮॥
Anoopae Aroopae Samasthul[i] nivaasee
That who is free from form and praise, that who is within everyone
ਸਦਾ ਸਿੱਧਦਾ ਬੁੱਧਦਾ ਬ੍ਰਿਧ ਕਰਤਾ ॥
Sadhaa Sidhhdhaa Budhhdhaa Bridhh Karthaa
Forever the Giver (of) Desires, Wisdom, and the [One] who increases [expands]
ਅਧੋ ਉਰਧ ਅਰਧੰ ਅਘੰ ਓਘ ਹਰਤਾ ॥੫੯॥
Adhho Ourdhh Ardhh[ng] Agh[ng] Ogh Harthaa
Following behind those sins which were done in spiritual blindness [intoxication] [& then] the Eraser of these [sins]
ਪਰਮ ਪਰਮ ਪਰਮੇਸ੍ਵਰੰ ਪ੍ਰੋਛ¹ ਪਾਲੰ ॥
Param Param Parameswar[ng] Prochh Paal[ng]
The Greatest of the Great, Parameshwar,
the [One] takes the Hidden Ocean away, the Sustainer
¹Proksh = Gupt, Highest Knower
ਸਦਾ ਸਰਬਦਾ ਸਿੱਧ ਦਾਤਾ ਦਿਆਲੰ ॥੬੦॥
Sadhaa Sarabdhaa Sidhh Dhaathaa Dhiaal[ng]
Forever and routinely, [Whom] our desires are fulfilled by –
the Compassionate [One]
ਅਛੇਦੀ ਅਭੇਦੀ ਅਨਾਮੰ ਅਕਾਮੰ ॥
Achhedhee Abhaedhee Anaam[ng] Akaam[ng]
That [Who] cannot be broken, not destroyable,
free from names, free from desires
ਸਮਸਤੋਪਰਾਜੀ² ਸਮਸਤੱਸਤੁ ਧਾਮੰ ॥੬੧॥
Samasthopraajee Samasthasth Dhaam[ng]
The Form of Radiance upon everyone (King) – Whose home is in everyplace
²Oupraajanaa = Paidhaa Karnaa/Giving Birth; Samasthopraajee = The [One] who gives birth to all, meaning all-pervading
ਤੇਰਾ ਜੋਰੁ ॥ ਚਾਚਰੀ ਛੰਦ ॥

(May) Your Strength (be of help) | Name of Chhand
ਜਲੇ ਹੈਂ ॥ ਥਲੇ ਹੈਂ ॥
Jalae Hai[n] Thhalae Hai[n]
(Oh Prabhu, You) are (pervading) in water;
(You are pervading) in/on the ground/earth
ਅਭੀਤ ਹੈਂ¹ ॥ ਅਭੇ ਹੈਂ ॥੬੨॥
Abheeth Hai[n] Abhae Hai[n]
[You] do not give fear; [You] are free from fear
¹see page 69 (Chhand 117-118); from this we can establish that not giving fear is the correct arth of this
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਹੈਂ ॥ ਅਜੂ² ਹੈਂ ॥
Prabhoo Hai[n]; Ajoo Hai[n]
[You] are Great (the Glory-holder);
[You] are Achal(Unmoving/Stable)
²Ju = to move
ਅਦੇਸ³ ਹੈਂ ॥ ਅਭੇਸ ਹੈਂ ॥੬੩॥
Adhaes Hai[n]; Abhaes Hai[n]
[You] are free from countries;
[You] are free attire/robes/look (form)
