This section continues Sri Krishna Ji's encouragement of Arjun to go into battle. Sri Krishna Ji has given answers to all of Arjun's arguments. Here, They address the importance of having belief/conviction in Vaheguru, the body's swaidharam (individual purpose/responsibilities), and the truth of the Vedas & the Shaastars, among many other principles.
ਸੋਰਠਾ ॥ (Sorattaa)
ਹੇ ਕੁਰਨੰਦਨ ਮੀਤ ਸੁਨ ਨਿਹਚਾ ਮੇਰੇ ਭਗਤ ਕਾ ॥
Oh my friend Arjun, listen to the conviction of [Vaheguru’s] Bhagats
(Hae Kurna[n]dhan Meeth Sun Nihachaa Maerae Bhagath Kaa; Kuru-Nandan means son of the King of Kuru aka Arjun)
ਯਹੀ ਬਾਤ ਧਰ ਚੀਤ ਮੁਝ ਬਿਕ ਨ ਪੇਖਤਾ ॥੮੯॥
Keep this very discussion in your mind and you won’t have to see adharam/suffering

ਜਿਨ ਮੁਝ ਪਰ ਨਿਹਚਾ ਨਹੀ ਤਿਸ ਕੀ ਬਾਤ ਕਹੌ ॥
Listen to the discussion about those that do not believe/are not convicted in [Vaheguru]
(Jin Mujh Par nihachaa nahee This Kee Baath Kahau)
ਜਿਸ ਓਰ ਕੌ ਲਾਵ ਹੈ ਤਿਸ ਹੀ ਓਰ ਲਹੌ ॥੯੦॥
That side [of discussion] which benefits [you], take that side [in your mind]
(Jis Or Kau Laav Hai This Hee Or Lahau; listen to the beneficial information)

ਸੁਨ ਪੰਡ ਨੰਦਨ ਬਾਤ ॥
Oh Arjun, Listen to this discussion
(Sun Pa[n]d Na[n]dhan Baath)
ਨਿਰ ਨਿਹਚਉ ਕੀ ਗਾਤ ॥
The state of those who do not have conviction [in Vaheguru]
(Nir Nihacho[u] Kee Gaath)
ਅਨਕ ਓਰ ਭਰਮੇ ਓਹ ॥
Keeping multiple sides, they wander in doubt/delusion
(Anak Or Bharamae Oh; sides here could mean support, like who we rely upon as our support; relying on the support of anything other than Vaheguru)
ਸੁਨ ਪੰਡਤੋ ਕੇ ਮੋਹ ॥੯੧॥
Listen to the emotional attachment of the Pandits
(Sun Pa[n]datho Kae Moh)
ਸੁਨ ਪੰਡਤੋ ਕੀ ਰੀਤ ॥
Listen to the way/tradition of the Pandits
(Sun Pa[n]datho Kee Reeth)
ਤਿਨ ਸ੍ਵਰਗ ਕੀ ਹੈ ਪ੍ਰੀਤ ॥
They have a love for the heavens
(Thin Swarag Kee Hai Preeth)
ਬੇਦ ਬਚਨ ਸੁੰਦਰ ਕਹੈਂ ॥
They say the words of the Vedas are beautiful
(Baedh Bachan Su[n]dhar Kahai[n])
ਸੋ ਸੁਨੇਂ ਤਿਸ ਦ੍ਰਿੜ ਰਹੈਂ ॥੯੨॥
So when they listen [to the Vedas] they memorize/engrain them
(So Sunae[n] This Dhrirr Rahai[n])
ਸੁਨ ਬਚਨ ਕਾਮਨਾਵੰਤ ॥
They [only] focus on the teachings which increase their desires
(Sun Bachan Kaamanaava[n]th)
ਜਿਨ ਸ੍ਵਰਗ ਹੀ ਕੀ ਚਿੰਤ ॥
Those who worry about heaven
(Jin Swarag Hee Kee Chi[n]th)
ਸ੍ਵਰਗ ਇੰਦ੍ਰੀਓ ਕਾ ਭੋਗ ॥
For them, heaven is [only] the enjoyment of the senses
(Swarag EindreeO Kaa Bhog)
ਤਿਨ ਮੁਕਤ ਨਾਹੀ ਜੋਗ ॥੯੩ ॥
They are not worthy of liberation
(Thin Mukath naahee Jog)
ਜੋ ਕਰਮ ਕਰਤੇ ਸੋਇ ॥
[Those] who act this way
(Jo Karam Karathae Soe[i])
ਫਲ ਤਿਸੈ ਦੁਖ ਸੁਖ ਹੋਇ ॥
They will receive rewards of pain and pleasure
(Phal Thisai Dhukh Sukh Hoe[i])
ਜਿਨ ਕਰਮ ਮਾਹਿ ਕਸਟਿ ॥
Whoever was stuck in the pains of karams
(Jin Karam Maah[i] Kasat[i])
ਉਹ ਸੁਰਗ ਹੀ ਕਾ ਇਸਟਿ ॥੯੪॥
Their only Isht is heaven
(Ouh Surag Hee Kaa Eisat[i]; Isht means who they worship/love)
ਫਲ ਇੰਦ੍ਰੀਓ ਕੇ ਭੋਗ ॥
Receiving the fruit/reward of enjoying the senses
(Phal EindhreeO Kae Bhog)
ਬ੍ਰਿਥਾ ਜਗਤ ਤਿਨ ਜੋਗ ॥
The [true potential of the] world is wasted for them
(Brithhaa Jagath Thin Jog)
ਬੁਧ ਅੰਧ ਤਿਨ ਕੀ ਯਹੀ ॥
Their Intellect is considered to be blinded
(Budhh A[n]dhh Thin Kee Yahee)
ਸੁਬਿਚਾਰ ਤਿਨ ਸੋ ਰਹੀ ॥੯੫॥
This is where this correct assessment [of those who do not believe in Vaheguru] ends (Subichaar Thin So Rahee)
ਜਿਨ ਨਹੀ ਨਿਹਚਾ ਮੀਤ ॥
Oh Friend, whoever does not have conviction/belief for [Vaheguru]
(Jin nahee Nihachaa Meeth)
ਸਮਾਧ ਸੋ ਨ ਪ੍ਰੀਤ ॥
They do not receive Samaadhh nor Divine-Love
(Samaadhh So n Preeth; Samaadhi is a state of peace which happens as a result of deep meditation)
ਬਿਨੁ ਸਮਾਧ ਕਰਮ ਜੋ ਕਰੇ ॥
Whoever acts without Samaadhh
(Bin[u] Samaadhh Karam Jo Karae)
ਉਹੁ ਨਿਤ ਜਨਮੇਂ ਮਰੇ ॥੯੬॥
They will continue to be born and die [cycle of reincarnation] (Ouh[u] Nith Janamae[n] Marae)
ਸੁਸਮਾਧ ਅਰਥ ਬੀਚਾਰ ॥
Listen to the meaning of True Samaadhh
(Susamaadhh Arthh Beechaar)
ਸਭ ਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਅਚਲ ਅਪਾਰ ॥
Everything is Brahm, Stable, and Unreachable/Uncrossable
(Sabh Braham Achal Apaar)
ਜਿਸੁ ਜਾਨਿਆ ਸਭ ਬ੍ਰਹਮ ॥
Whoever realizes everything is Braham
(Jis[u] Jaaniaa Sabh Braham)
ਤਿਸ ਮੁਕਤਿ ਕਾ ਹੈ ਮਰਮ ॥
They know of the Secret of Liberation
(This Mukath[i] Kaa Hai Maram)
ਹੈ ਬੇਦ ਕੇ ਵਹ ਕਰਮ ॥
Those actions that are spoken of in the Vedas

ਸਭ ਤੀਨ ਗੁਨ ਕਾ ਧਰਮ ॥੯੭॥
All of them are based on the nature of the 3 guns [Maya=Rajo, Sato, Tamo]

ਹੇ ਪਾਰਥ ਅਤਿ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮਾਂ ਬੇਦ ਬਾਤ ਸੁਨ ਕਾਂਨ ॥
Oh Most Beloved Arjun, if you listen to the discussions of the Vedas
(Hae Paarathh Ath[i] Preethamaa[n] Baedh Baath Sun Kaa[n]n)
ਤ੍ਰੈ ਗੁਨ ਮਾਂਹਿ ਸਭ ਬੇਦ ਹੈਂ ਦੁਖ ਸੁਖ ਤ੍ਰੈ ਗੁਨ ਮਾਂਨ ॥੯੮॥
The 3 Guns are all part of the Vedas, accept the 3 guns to be [bringers of] suffering and pleasure
(Thrai Gun Maa[n]h[i] Sabh Baedh Hai[n] Dhukh Sukh Thrai Gun Maa[n]n)
ਦੋਹਰਾ ॥ (Dhoharaa)
ਹੋ ਅਤੀਤ ਤੂੰ ਬੇਦ ਤੇ ਨਿਰਦੁੰਦ ਮਾਂਹਿ ਬਿਰਾਜ ॥
Become detached from the Vedas, reside in a state of non-duality
(Ho Atheeth Thoo[n] Baedh Thae Nirdhwa[n]dh Maa[n]h[i] Biraaj)
ਸੀਤ ਉਸਨ ਕੋ ਤਿਆਗ ਕਰ ਆਤਮ ਕੇ ਸੰਗ ਲਾਗ ॥੯੯॥
Renounce cold and hot (duality of sensing); get close to [understanding] the Aatmaa
(Seeth Ousan Ko Thiaag Kar Aatham Kae Sa[n]g Laag)
ਦੋਹਰਾ ॥ (Dhoharaa)
ਆਤਮ ਅਜਰ ਅਰੋਗ ਹੈ ਬਿਨੁ ਆਤਮ ਨਾਹੀ ਕੋ ॥
The Aatma is Intolerable, Diseaseless...
There is nothing/no one without the Aatma
(Aatham Ajar Arog Hai Bin[u] Aatham naahee Ko; Ajar is intolerable in a way which is so powerful, that the human body – or anything from this realm of existence – would find it overbearing)
ਐਸੀ ਬਾਤ ਬੀਚਾਰ ਕੈ ਤੂੰ ਭੀ ਆਤਮ ਹੋ ॥੧੦੦॥
Reflecting on this type of discussion, You too become [one with the] Aatma
(Aisee Baath Beechaar Kai Thoo[n] Bhee Aatham Ho)
ਸੋਰਠਾ ॥ (Sorattaa)
ਜਬ ਤੂੰ ਐਸੀ ਭਾਂਤ ਪਾਰਥ ਬੁਧ ਮੈ ਜੁਰੈਗਾ ॥
In this way Arjun, when you attach your intellect to this
(Jab Thoo[n] Aisee Bhaa[n]th Paarathh Budhh Mai Juraigaa)
ਤਬ ਤੁਝ ਹੋਵੈ ਸਾਂਤ ਤਿਸ ਕਾ ਫਲ ਅਬ ਬਹੁੜ ਸੁਨ ॥੧੦੧॥
Then you will become peaceful/at ease, listen to the reward/fruit of this [thinking]
(Thab Thujh Hovai Saa[n]th This Kaa Phal Ab Bahurr Sun)
ਚੌਪਈ ॥ (Chaupae-ee)
ਜਿਉ ਸਾਤ ਸਮੁੰਦ੍ਰ ਪਰਲੇ ਮਾਂਹਿ ॥
Just like the seven seas during Parlae
(Jio[u] Saath Samu[n]dhr Parlae Maa[n]h[i]; Parlae is when a Jug is over.... similar to the apocalypse)
ਸਭ ਹੀ ਏਕ ਰੂਪ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਹਿ ॥
Everything becomes One Form
(Sabh Hee Aek Roop Ho Jaa[n]h[i])
ਤੈਸੇ ਮੇਰਾ ਜਾਂਨਨਹਾਰ ॥
In the same way, [the one] who knows about [Vaheguru’s Truth]
(Thaisaa Maeraa Jaa[n]anhaar)
ਤਿਸ ਕੇ ਕੋਈ ਨਾਹਿ ਵਿਕਾਰ ॥੧੦੨॥
They don't any vikaars [Vaheguru]
(This Kae Koee Naah[i] Vikaar; vikaar means vices but also means changes)
ਮੇਰੇ ਮਿਲੇ ਤੇ ਦੁਰਬੁਧ ਭਾਗੇ ॥
Meeting with Vaheguru, all bad intellect/stupidity runs away
(Maerae Milae Thae Dhurbudhh Bhaagae)
ਆਤਮ ਜੋਤ ਤਿਸ ਕੇ ਘਟਿ ਜਾਗੇ ॥
[and] then the Light of Aatmaa awakens within the Heart
(Aatham Joth This Kae Ghat[i] Jaagae)
ਹਉ ਜੋ ਸਭ ਕਾ ਕਾਰਨ ਮੂਲ ॥
[Vaheguru] is the Cause and Origin of All
(Ho[u] Jo Sabh Kaa Kaaran Mool)
ਮੈ ਹੀ ਸੂਖਮ ਅਰ ਅਸਥੂਲ ॥੧੦੩॥
[Vaheguru] is the subtle/sookham and the physical/evident/asthhool
(Mai Hee Sookham Ar Asthhool)
ਤਤ ਬੇਦ ਕਾ ਜੋ ਕੋ ਜਾਨੈ ॥
Whoever knows the Essential Knowledge
(Thath Baedh Kaa Jo Ko Jaanai)
ਸੋਈ ਨਿਹਚਾ ਮੁਝ ਪਰ ਆਨੈ ॥
Then they would have faith/conviction in [Vaheguru]
(Soee Nihachaa Mujh Par Aanai)
ਹੇ ਅਰਜਨ ਤੂੰ ਐਸੇ ਜਾਂਨ ॥
Oh Arjun, Understand this
(Hae Arjan Thoo[n] Aisae Jaa[n]n)
ਅਦ੍ਵੈਤ ਅਕਾਲ ਤੂੰ ਮੁਝੇ ਪਹਿਚਾਨ ॥੧੦੪॥
You [should] recognize [Vaheguru] as Non-Dual and Free from Time/Death (Adhvaith Akaal Thoo[n] Mujhae Pahichaan)
ਦ੍ਰਿੜ ਨਿਹਚਾ ਕਰ ਮੇਰੇ ਸਾਥ ॥
Have full conviction/belief in [Vaheguru]
(Dhrirr Nihchaa Kar Maerae Saathh)
ਜੋ ਅਬ ਕਹੌ ਸੁਨੋ ਸੋ ਗਾਥ ॥
Listen to the story, I am about to tell you
(Jo Ab Kahau Suno So Gaathh)
ਖਤ੍ਰੀ ਬੈਸ ਦੇਹ ਮੈਂ ਧਾਰੇ ॥
Khatri and Vaish are [names] taken on by bodies
(Khathree Bais Dhaeh Mai[n] Dhhaarae)
ਸ਼ਾਸਤ੍ਰ ਤਿਸ ਕੇ ਧਰਮ ਉਚਾਰੇ ॥੧੦੫॥
The Shaastras tell them their dharam/way of life (Shaasthr This Kae Dhharam Ouchaarae)
ਇਸ ਦੇਹ ਕਾ ਧਰਮ ਹੈ ਜੁਧ ॥
For this body [referring to Arjun’s], the way of life is war
(Eis Dhaeh Kaa Dhharam Hai Judhh)
ਹਾਨ ਬ੍ਰਿਧ ਕੀ ਤਿਆਗ ਕਬੁਧ ॥
Let go of this mistaken thinking about age and seniority
(Haan Bridhh Kee Thiaag Kabudhh)
ਲਾਭ ਅਲਾਭ ਏਕ ਸਮ ਜਾਨ ॥
Know profit and loss as part of the same One (Laabh Alaabh Aek Sam Jaan)
ਰਾਗ ਦੁਏਖ ਬਰਾਬਰ ਮਾਨ ॥੧੦੬॥
Accept Love and Division as the same/parallel [as/to each other] (Raag Duaekh Baraabar Maan)
ਏਕੋ ਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਅਕਾਲ ਪਹਿਚਾਨ ॥
Recognize The One Timeless/Deathless Braham/Vaheguru
(Aeko Braham Akaal Pahichaan)
ਸਭੀ ਦੇਹ ਮਿਰਤ ਤੂੰ ਜਾਨ ॥
Understand all bodies to be mortal/face death
(Sabhee Dhaeh Mirath Thoo[n] Jaan)
ਇਸ ਕਾ ਨਾਮ ਜੋਗ ਸਮ ਕਹੈ ॥
Know their name to be the same as Yog[Union]
(Eis Kaa Naam Jog Sam Kahai)
ਪੁਰਖ ਬਿਬੇਕੀ ਤਿਸ ਕੌ ਗਹੈ ॥੧੦੭॥
The Being who is referred to as Bibeki
(Purakh Bibaekee This Kau Gahai; the one who contemplates how duality is actually One... this is the True Yog/Union)
ਸਭ ਧਰਮੌ ਮੈ ਉੱਤਮ ਧਰਮ ॥
Out of all ways of living/religion, it is the Highest Way of Living/Religion
(Sabh Dhharamau Mai Outham Dhharam)
ਜਿਨ ਪਾਇਆ ਆਤਮ ਕਾ ਮਰਮੁ ॥
... for whoever finds the Secret of the Aatma
(Jin Paaeiaa Aatham Kaa Maram[u])
ਹੇ ਧਨੰਜੇ ਨਿਸਚੇ ਤੂੰ ਜਾਂਨ ॥
Oh Arjun, this is what conviction/firm belief is
(Hae Dhan[n]jae Nischae Thoo[n] Jaa[n]n; Dhan[n]-Jae means the one who conquered wealth, another name for Arjun)
ਇਸੀ ਧਰਮ ਕੋ ਸਾਚਾ ਮਾਂਨ ॥੧੦੮॥
Accept this Dharam as the Truth/Realest
(Eisee Dhharam Ko Saachaa Maa[n]n)
ਆਸਰਾ ਐਸੇ ਧਰਮ ਕਾ ਲੇਹ ॥
Take support/anchor yourself in this type of way of life/dharam/religion (Aasaraa Aisae Dhharam Kaa Laeh)
ਮੇਰੀ ਸਰਨ ਚਿਤ ਕੌ ਦੇਹ ॥
Take [Vaheguru’s] Sanctuary within your mind
(Maeree Saran Chith Kau Dhaeh)
ਅਰੁ ਫਲ ਕੋਈ ਬਾਛੋ ਨਾਹਿ ॥
...and don’t desire for any fruits/rewards
(Ar[u] Phal Koee Baachho naah[i])
ਜੋ ਬਾਛਹਿ ਸੋ ਨੀਚ ਕਹਾਹਿ ॥
Whoever keeps the expectation for a reward, they are known as lowly
(Jo Baachhah[i] So Neech Kahaah[i])
