Previous to this section, Arjun was looking for reasons to get out of the war and Sri Krishna Ji explain to him the nature of existence, the misperception of knowing the body as the self, and what that means in terms of understanding the Aatma.

The Bibeki knows this within their mind (Bibaekee Yahee Chith Mai[n] Jaanai[n]; Bibeki refers to someone who can discern between what is The Truth and what is falsehood)
They do not accept [the idea of] worrying about death (Marnae Kee Chi[n]thaa Nahee Maanai[n])
The Jeev-Aatma is a part of Paramatmaa (Jeeo[u] Hai Baasdhaev Kee A[n]s; Individualization caused by misperception of separation; Baasdaev refers to Paarbrahm Vaheguru)
That same Akaal [Aatma] recognize as all of the collective parts (Vah[i] Akaal Jaano Saraba[n]s; Akaal = free from time and death)
Jeev (Individualized Being) & Eshwar (Greater Master) are actually the same

Other [mis]perception is based on how the [5] senses input and misinterpret what is happening
Becoming born (Outhpath Bhaeiaa), you fully accepted this way of thinking  (Thoo[n] Nischae Jaan)
Oh son of Kunti (Hae Suth Ku[n]thaa Kae), listen now! (Ab Sun)
[I] will be telling you about the misperception of the senses (Ei[n]dhree Giaan Kaho[n]) for you to realize (Tujh Phun; ‘your purity’ but here it means for purity of mind = wisdom)

Cool and Hot (Seeth Ousan), pleasure and pain (Sukh Ar[u] Dhukh)
The human always receives this (Thih Thae Paavai Sadhaa Maanukh)
[They receive] one moment of pleasure and in the next moment [they receive] pain
(Eik Pal Sukh Dhoojae Pal Dhukh)
These states are not permanent so what is [true] pleasure?
(This Anith Thae[n] Kiaa Hai Sukh; are pleasures as perceived by the senses real pleasure?)

Coming and going (Aagampaae[i]) is the nature of pleasure as perceived by the senses  (Ei[n]dhree Sukh So)
You will not attain wisdom through this type of thinking (This Thae Giaan Math Praapath Ho)
Keep tolerating/bearing [the constantly changing states of] pleasure and pain of the senses (Sukh Dhukh Ei[n]dhree Kae Sah[i] Raho)
Distinguish the Jeev-Aatma (separated soul) from the body[‘s senses]
(Bhi[n]n Jeeo[u] Dhaeh Thae Laho)

... and that Highest [human] being that comes [into this world]
(Ar Jo Purakh Sraeshat Aah[i])
They are not stuck between the pleasure and pain of the senses
(Ouh[u] Sukh Dhukh Ei[n]dhreeo Kae Nahee Maah[i])
They always remain peaceful and in a pure lifestyle (Sadhaa Rahai Sam Nirmal Reeth; Nirmal = without dirt)
They have attained the Wisdom of Immortality
(A[m]rith Giaan Paan Thin Keeth)
Attaining this Spiritual Wisdom they become pure.
(Giaa[n]n Paa[n]n Thae Nirmal Hovai)
They lose all the poisonous misperception of their senses
(Ei[n]dhreeo Kee Bikhiaa Sabh Khovai)

(Dhoharaa)
The Aatma is True and not bound by time (Aatam Sath Akaal Hai), it never dies (This Kaa Naahee Naas)
When you simply view yourself as the body, then everything will be destroyed
(Dhaeh Jo Dhrishtee Aav Hai[n] So Hai Sabhee Binaas; the 5 elemental body is temporary and so is the 5 elemental world)

(Dhoharaa)
That who understands these two things is a Brahmgiaani (Eih Dho Baathai[n] Samajh Kai Thathvaethaa Hai Jo; Thath-vaethaa = the one who knows the Essence of Reality)
They do not have any worries and do not see their True-Self as subject to death
(Chi[n]thaa Koee Naa Karai Naas n JaaNai Ko)

Sree Bhagvaanovaach:
(Sri Krishna Ji's Bachans)
(Kabith)
The One Being is The Greatest Form of Aatma (Param Aatham Hai Eak Purakh); They reside within each body (A[n]thar Sabh Dhaeho Kae) ; They are Indestructible and Truth-Hidden is Their Form (Soee Abinaasee Kootsath This Roop Hai; split kootsath into two parts, please suggest a better definition if known)
The body is not going to remain forever it is born and then it dies (Dhaeh Sabh Anith Oupaj Binasae Hai) Through all the times (past, present, future) Aatma is non-dual, timeless/without death, and indescribable (Sarab Kaal Aatham Advaith Akaal Ao[u] Anoop Hai)
Always remains without sustenance (Sadhaa Rahai Niraahaar) It does not eat nor drink anything (Khaa-ae Peeae Kachhoo Naah[i]; Unstoppable, unwavering/stable, and endless is [Aatma]’s Form (Akha[n]d Ar Achal Ar Apar This Roop Hai; apar = apaar = that which cannot be crossed, like an ocean which cannot be crossed because it is so large that we cannot get to the other end)
From this, understand one thing Arjan: get up and go to war; Aatma is the One Truth; there is no poor people nor kings (Thaa[n]thae Yah[i] Baath Samajh Paarathh Outt Judhh Kar[i] Aatham Aek Saach Aour Ra[n]k Hai n Bhoop Hai)

Sri Bhagvaanovaach:
(Sri Krishan Ji’s Bachans)
Mangal[i] Chhand

Saying this to Arjun (Ko Kahai Paarathh[u] Aeh)
The body is the one which kills (Hath[u] Keeaa Amkaa Dhaeh)
If someone says otherwise (Avar Kahai Dhoojaa Koe[i]; saying that the aatma is the attacker)
They are saying they are killing themselves
(Hath Karo Mai Hee Soe[i])

Know both of these statements (above) as useless (So Dho-oo Birthhae Jaan)
[These points] do not contain wisdom
[Those who share these thoughts] do not understand anything
(Ouh Samjhathae Kachh[u] Naa[n]hi)
They have only attained ignorance (Agiaan Hee Ko Paahi)

Nor the Jeev nor Brahm gets destroyed (Nahee Jeeo[u] Braham[u] Binaas)
They never die (Thih Kaa n Hovai Naas)
So refer to the Jeev as so (So Jeeo[u] Ko Ab Kaho[n]):
Accept Jeev and Brahm as One (Jeeo[u] Brahm Aeko Laho)

It is not born and so (Naa[n] Janmath Hai So),
... it does not die either (Ous Naas Naa[n]hee Ho)
It is always one Form (O[u]h Sadhaa Eak Saroop)
and it is without birth and indescribable (Ouh[u] Janam Rahath Anoop)

and is always ancient (Ar[u] Nith Puraathan Jo)
So you cannot kill the Aatma(This Hath Karae naa Ko)
The Dharam of the Body is to die (Ao[u]r Maran Dhaeh Kaa Dharam)
Whoever realizes this secret (Jin Paaeiaa Eih Maram)

Will not say the following (So naa Kahai Yah[i] Baath)
I have killed someone (Mai Keeaa Amkaa Ghaath)
Or will say that I have been killed (Yaa Ouh[u] Kahai Mujh Hath)

Listen Oh Arjun [my] Clever Sikh (Sunaho Arjan Sikh Prabeen)
Connected with the body, know the aatma to be (Sa[n]jog Dhaeh Aatham Eio[u] Cheen)
Like a cloth that becomes old (Jaisae Basthr Hoe[i] Puraanaa)
Throw it out and put on a new one (Daar Dheeaa Thab Navaa Ha[n]tdaanaa[n])

In this way, the Aatma throws away one body (Thisee Bhaa[n]th[i] Aatham Dhaeh Daarae)
and takes on another, Listen Oh Beloved (Aour Dhaeh Laevae Sun Piaarae)

Fighting in a battle will not result in the Aatma getting cut (Aaeidhh Kar[i] Kaatiaa nahee Jaae[i])
Nor can it ever be burned in a fire (Thaa[n] Ko Agan[i] naa Sakae Jalaae[i])

[and] the wind can never dry it (Maaruth Thisai Sukaavai Naa[n]hi)

[Aatma] Itself – is a Pillar holding up everything (Thhaa[n]bh Rahiaa Sabhahoo[n] Ko Aap)
From [the Aatma’s] unwaveringness/stability comes the meditation upon [the nature of Aatma] (This Thae Nischal Ous Ka Jaap)

Call [the Aatma] Ancient and Forever!
