3 Divine-Beloveds (Isht-Dev)
The Divine-Beloveds are referred to as those who we worship from Our Heart. No one else can compare to Them. Nihung Singhs believe Akaal Purakh, Gurbani and Shastars as their Divine-Beloveds. These are the three "Isht Dev" for Nihung Singhs.
Kalgidhar Maharaj Ji have demonstrated the worship of Akaal Purakh themselves. This is an exemplary teaching given to Nihung Singhs. This is the reason why you will always hear chants of Akaal! Akaal! from the mouth of a Nihung Singh. Whoever repeats Akaal-Akaal in Praise of Vaheguru, they will be blessed in both worlds (Lok & Parlok):
ਲੋਕ ਸੁਖੀ ਪਰਲੋਕ ਖਲਾਸ ਅਕਾਲ ਅਕਾਲ ਅਕਾਲ ਕਰੈਂਗੇ||(ਸਰਬਲੋਹ ਗ੍ਰੰਥ)
Along with worshipping Akaal Purakh, the worship of GurShabad is also done by Nihung Singhs. Nihung Singhs see Aad, Dasam and Sarbloh Gurbani to be the Guru Sahib’s Complete Form. The Third Isht-Dev for Nihung Singhs is the Kirpaan and Shastars. Kalgidhar Maharaj’s Words straight from Their Beautiful Mouth are remembered as:
ਅਸੁ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾਨ ਖੰਡੋ ਖੜਗ, ਤੁਪਕ ਤਬਰ ਅਰੁ ਤੀਰ ॥ ਸੈਫ ਸਰੋਹੀ ਸੈਹਥੀ, ਯਹੈ ਹਮਾਰੇ ਪੀਰ ॥
The worship of weapons is done every day at Amrit Vela by Nihung Singhs as they recite Brahm Kavach, Bhagauti Astotr, and Shastar Naam Mala.
On Dussehra, Nihung Singhs conduct special worship of weapons. They recite the Prayers of Dussehra Mahatam. This 9-night worship of weapons also occurred at Sri Akaal Takht Sahib (while under the care of Nihung Singhs). At Hazur Sahib, this pooja still occurs. The Nihung Singhs believe there is The One Light of Akaal present in These Three Isht-Devs. All three receive equal honour and respect.
The story of the three Isht Devs is written in Giani Giaan Singh’s Panth Prakaash. More details about this can be found in the "Brahm Kavach and Bhagauti Astotr Teeka" written by [Giani Gurwinder Singh Ji Nangli].
