Those who begin to dive deeper into their spiritual life, they notice that the ocean is not just the surface. There is not a human life long enough to be able to explore it all. It is unfortunate that majority of the world sees spirituality as just some time to become calm or become religious. In the same way, these 27 Dohara's seem like there are maybe 100 or so names of Shastars provided. However, when we start to surrender our minds, we begin to learn more about how much depth exists when it comes to Shastars. This Profoundness is a Quality of Akaal Purakh Vaheguru and found within their Creation as well. Here, Maharaj Ji are remembering pen-knives or in other words: pocket knives. There is something called an EDC (Everyday Carry) which is used in everyday life.

Why carry a knife all the time? From a Tyar-Ber-Tyar perspective...

The Khalsa keep shastars as they are our saints but also for protection of the defenseless and needy. Due to the political environments of the world, if someone were to use their Kakkar Kirpan (the one which is never removed from the body) in a protection situation in the western world then it would be highly likely that police would confiscate the shastar & there would be unnecessary political tension towards Sikhs as well as potential for Kakkar bans. There was a local Gursikh who shared a practice: never use the Kakkar Kirpan in these situations while in the west but always keep an EDC as a multipurpose tool.

Daas also remembers a time when Bhai Paneet Singh recalled a scenario that Bhai Charnjeet Singh (Shaheed Baba Deep Singh Gatka Akhara) tested him with. If someone were to rob you, would you use your Sri Sahib against them. Bhai Paneet Singh initially said yes as a young child replying to this test. Bhai Charnjeet Singh asked that if someone is stealing, does it mean you end their life? No, that is not the correct way of thinking. This is why we keep non-lethal shastars such as daangs (wooden staff). That same wood which protects is sharpened in the pencil. There is nothing away from Vaheguru's Shakti.

Vaheguru resides even within the enemy's sword. Vaheguru's nondual nature applies to the enemies as well. We stand up for righteousness and protection of the defenseless but even the tyrannical have Vaheguru within them. Those who reflect upon this will be walking towards liberation.

The womb is burning hot and so is the womb of Maya in which we live but Vaheguru protects through both. So why should we ever forget Vaheguru?

Giani Sher Singh Ji narrate a story from Panth Prakaash. In India, there was a really bad tradition of killing daughters upon their birth. This practice was banned by Guru Sahib. There was a daughter born to a Sikh family during the Misl period. The midwives had stuffed the baby into the earth in order to kill her. Sant Baba Gudharr Singh Ji knew that this happened through some spiritual powers. He told them to dig up the daughter. She was still sucking on her thumb. Baba Gudharr Singh Ji held her and said that you are trying to kill her? She will be the mother of the Sher-e-Punjab. She ended up being the mother of Maharaja Ranjit Singh. Vaheguru's Hukam is out of your control. It is better for you to surrender your foolish thinking and accept Guru Sahib's way of seeing.
